Spring Style Hack: Belt Your Blazer
I haven't been to a vintage store in twenty years but when Collette Home opened a store in the Bridgehampton Commons I figured, why not? I stumbled upon a 1980's tweed Bill Blass Reagan era skirt suit. The shoulder was padded to perfection but the body was a little schlumpy. Enter my Stefano Pilati for YSL pilgrim square buckle belt and voila!, a new look was born! Belting a blazer or coat is a great way to refresh an old standby. The trick for spring is to choose a blazer that fits a little roomy in the shoulders. A classic menswear style leather belt works best. Don't button the blazer, just flap one side over the other and cinch the belt as tight as you can. Have fun mixing and matching belts with different texture blazers. This is a great way to give an evening dress some edge as well. Here are some photos to inspire you. xxM
